Meridian Mall Threats

UPDATE: 
Meridian Township Police received a number of tips regarding the identities of the persons of interest.  One subject was arrested today at approximately 10:45 a.m.  The identity of the person in custody is being withheld pending arraignment.  Police believe there is no further threat to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Meridian Township Police Department and 517.853.4800 or submit an anonymous tip through the Department’s social media sites. 



On August 5, 2016 at 6:21 P.M., Meridian Township Police Officers responded to the Meridian Mall on al report of two subjects making threats.  A subject was overheard saying he was going to "shoot up the mall" and further indicated that he had a firearm in his vehicle.  A witness overheard the conversation and reported the information to Meridian Mall security.

Police from Michigan State University, Michigan State Police, Department of Natural Resources and the Ingham County Sheriff's Department responded to the mall.  Customers were evacuated to ensure their safety while officers searched for the subjects.  They were not located.

Meridian Police are asking the public to help identify the two people in the photograph provided below.  Both individuals are persons of interest.  The men are both white males in their early 20's  One male was wearing a black shirt, camo shorts, white socks, and black sandals.  The second male was wore a red baseball cap (worn backwards), a black shirt, gray shorts, black socks, and black shoes.
