Damage to Okemos High School Property Under Investigation

On May 16, 2014, at 2:33 a.m., Meridian Township Police received a report of five individuals on the grounds of Okemos High School and wearing ski masks.  A school staff member reported that the individuals were running near the tennis courts.  Meridian Township officers responded and a deputy from the Ingham County Sheriff Department stopped a vehicle occupied by six individuals while it was leaving the area.  These individuals are suspected of spray painting graffiti on buildings and signs at the football stadium.  The graffiti included offensive racial slurs, obscene drawings, and “SENIORS 2014”.  The suspects were released pending further investigation.  The school district intends to take administrative action against any student involved in this incident.

The names of the suspects are not being released at this time.  The case will be sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor for review.
