Update: Road closures in Meridian Township

Water levels are down somewhat on Hagadorn and on Okemos, but these two roads will be closed until this Friday morning, March 28, as more melting and rain are predicted between now and then.  Also, water/ice elevation on Hagadorn Road was still at shoulder level Tuesday night, and National Weather Service is extending the East Lansing portion of the Red Cedar River flood advisory to Monday, March 31.  Road department staff have done some temporary patching on Hagadorn Rd., and plan to do further patching and sweeping today.

As of Tuesday night, Lake Drive NE of Carton still had a fair amount of water and ice encroaching on about 3/4 of the road, so this also needs to remain closed.  Road department staff is going to try to pump the water on the south side to the north side at this location today, in an effort to open this location Friday morning if possible.  Water levels again rising with melting and precipitation, and re-freezing on the roadway remain a concern.

Water at the residential locations listed below have gone down somewhat, but thick ice remains on these roadways.  We believe Hillcrest might be able to be opened today.  The Nakoma area has more ice and may or may not be able to be opened tomorrow depending on whether this ice breaks and the water continues to go down.

MTPD is now hiring!
