On December 28, 2011, the Meridian Township Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire near the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Central Park Drive. The vacant dwelling was a total loss. The initial investigation indicated the fire was intentionally set.

Meridian Police partnered with the Fire Department to investigate the arson. Citizens and employees of area businesses came forward with crucial information to help identify the guilty parties.  From information received, investigators submitted monetary reward requests to the Michigan Arson Prevention Committee.  Two witnesses received rewards for their assistance in this investigation. Norma Preston was one of those witnesses; she is pictured below receiving her reward.

The Meridian Township Police and Fire Departments extend their gratitude to the members of our community who came forward to help solve this crime. They also thank the Michigan Arson Prevention Committee for generously rewarding citizens for their willingness to step forward with information.
