Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest

The Meridian Township Police Department will be participating in the Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest campaign.  The crackdown is being paid for with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Office of Highway Safety Planning. The extra patrols will begin today and go through the beginning of the new year.

We are urging everyone this holiday season to not drink and drive.  If you are going to go out and drink, please use a designated driver.

OHSP Director Michael L. Prince describes the situation perfectly, "The inconvenience of a drunk driving arrest doesn't end with a trip to jail," said Director Prince. "When factoring in court costs, legal fees, bail, towing, license fees and increased insurance, a drunk driving arrest is a very expensive situation."

OHSP did a great job in breaking down the cost of a drunk driving conviction and what you could buy with that money had you not been arrested.  To view their info graphic, click the following link: Ultimate 12 days of Christmas and DUI Cost
