Reducing vehicle speeds in neighborhoods

We often get complaints about the speed of vehicles in our neighborhoods.  We try to work with neighborhoods to get people to slow down. We will have our Officers conduct directed patrols in various neighborhoods in an effort to curb drivers who go over the speed limit.  Another tool that we use is the MTPD SMART trailer.  This trailer helps educate drivers by flashing their speed in a large window.  We hope that by giving drivers an accurate idea of how fast they are going that they will slow down.

If you would like the SMART trailer placed in your neighborhood contact us at (517) 853-4800, send us a message on facebook (, a DM on Twitter (@MeridianTwpPD) or contact the Officer assigned to your area and they can arrange it.
