National Night Out

Today is the 28th annual National Night Out.  All across America citizens, businesses, civic groups and police join together to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support and awareness of local anticrime efforts and to send a message to criminals that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Along with the customary display of front porch lights we encourage neighborhoods to come together and have a block party, cookout, ice cream social or other neighborhood event.

National Night Out is an effective, inexpensive way to encourage community spirit and police-community relationships.  The benefits that your neighborhood will derive from this event last for more than one night!  Meridian Township Police will be out at the neighborhood events tonight, take this opportunity to meet the officer that is assigned to your neighborhood.  Let's work together to fight crime and make our community a better place!
