On September 17, 2015, at 6:47 a.m., Meridian Township Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Pine Ridge and Ridgeway Drives in Haslett for a report of a subject attempting to gain access to a vehicle. Shortly after arriving, an officer heard a gunshot to the southeast of Pine Ridge and Ridgeway Drives. Additional officers responded to saturate the area and police canines were used for tracking. School officials were notified and officers were assigned to be at schools as a presence. At no time were students, staff, and citizens in harm’s way.
Further investigation revealed numerous larcenies from vehicles had occurred and a vehicle was stolen. The stolen vehicle was subsequently located nearby with stolen property. Investigators identified and arrested twomale suspects. Both males are lodged at the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department on related charges. It is anticipated the suspects will be arraigned on Friday. Michigan State Police and the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office along with the East Lansing Police and Michigan State University Police assisted.
