On August 2, 2016, Meridian Township will again recognize the celebration
of National Night Out, America’s night out against crime event. The Meridian Township Police Department will serve as the community hosts
as officers join participating neighborhoods in a variety of activities
including block parties, giveaways, K9 demonstrations, and cookouts while
heightening crime prevention awareness and enhancing community relations.
National Night Out was
developed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and create partnerships between Law
Enforcement and the Community in an effort to lower crime. The event takes place in the evening hours on the first Tuesday of August. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask
questions or just socialize with the members of the Police Department.
“The best way to prevent crime is to know your neighbors and your surroundings,” stated Captain Greg Frenger. “National Night Out triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities.”
